Welcome to MASA Puffer, glad you joined us. Please read the link in my signature - you should find most of the answers you're looking for regarding marine tanks.

Bigger is better, but also more expensive
Smaller is cheaper, but more challenging to keep water parameters stable and you'll be limited to keep certain livestock.

    Hello And Welcome

Yes I started really learning when I went to a normal 3 foot 90L tank.
A lot more difficult to keep stable than a 250 or 500L system. But if you want to fast track your learning curve. Then 90L is the way to go. I used a standard 60L for sump. And it worked.

    Welcome.

3ft will be fine, even better if you could add a sump to it.

Welcome to the forum, 3ft is ok as a "nano" tank, but be very careful of your bioload, a lot of folks get a smaller tank and then when they have a few bucks lying around want to put a tang or somesuch in, a big no-no in a small system

Look at something over 200l if you can stretch your budget, as even lights for a 3ft are just as expensive as a 4ft...
