    Hey guys
Didn't even know there was such an informative forum like this around. Glad there is though. I've got a huge koi pond outside and a big tropical tank inside but now its for something thats always interested me more than the rest. The marine world.

I'm looking at starting off with something reasonably small. Maybe a small starter kit to get me going and take it from there. Is there something like that on the market?

I spent the last weekend pottering around various pet stores trying to gather some info on it.

I got the just of whats required. The next step is getting the tank and kicking on.
Where would I get the best prices on a Starter tank if such thing exists.

    Jhb Roodepoort area :)

    Thanks in advance

    hi and welcome!

yes one can get a "starter kit" we call them nano's, a great place to learn this hobby.
there will seem alot to learn so ask away when you have a question.

give @wild on pets a call, they have a super nano complete setup with everything needed

Thanks will do. Spent a few hours at Sterlig on Sunday. They had a great little starter there. Just want to see what else is on the market. I think that one was a 37L tank.

    Welcome!

Is that the Aquaria nano? I've heard good things about those tanks... I'm waiting for their shipment of 102L tanks...

Good luck, and read what is on offer in this forum. There's some valuable info here!

Not exactly sure of which brand/model it is. Its a complete setup apparently. Would like a bit of a bigger one tho. Will shop around a bit first.

welcome to MASA. Small nanos are cool and everything but they can be difficult to keep the water parameters stable and to do upgrades. Also, you very limited to what stock you can keep. You get awesome tanks like cubes,a 4ft is a very nice size tank. Once you get in this hobby your tank will become too small very soon. Dont get me wrong, nanos are awesome but I wish I started big from the beginning. But let us know what you think of getting and we can advise you and help making your decision a little easier.

While i understand that smaller my seem easier, at 37L you will have your work cut out. I dont mean to scare but you will have to be more religious with husbandry and care as there is not alot of lee-way in 37l, but if you learn and understand they can be very rewarding

And there is of course all of us here at MASA

I would like to start off with something a little bigger than the 37 litre. I saw a JBJ 24 Gallon tank on one of the online shops and was thinking to maybe go that route. Just need to find out what comes with that tank and what else i would need to get. I dont want to bite off more than i can chew at first. Just want to get running with some clown fish and so on and some coral.

the aquaria 102L tanks are going to land soon, rather wait as they will have an awesome special and they come with sweet T5 lighting so you can play around with the tubes. In the mean time you can research and learn. Go to the sponsors section and look for aquaria sa and keep bugging him as he is the wholesaler, so you will know when they land ;)
