hi im quite sure this topic has been covered b4. i have an in tank overflow in the back right hand corner, with a drilled hole with plumbing to sump. This creates plenty of noise and bubbles. Has anyone come up with an easy solution to reduce this noise level? I have read about 'y' fittings ect, this might help the bubbles in sump bout how do i reduce noise in the overflow?

Can you post a pic, or draw a simple sketch, maybe we will be able to see how the water empties in the overflow box.
I have seen that some guys use a "u" pipe on the overflow so that the water level is always above the pipe that empties in the overflow i.e, extend your hole with pvc piping and then make a u turn back into the overflow below the water level of the overflow, but I am no expert.
As for your bubbles in the sump, I use a kreepy krawly pipe that empties my overflow and is placed below the water level mark in the sump, and as the French would say "VIOLA," NO NOISE!
    GOOD LUCK
    Carlos

I've got two of these in my overflow and they run very quiet just make sure you have a breather hole on the top of the piece sticking above the water

Yip, here's my one, drill a 5mm hole to insert the airline through, don't use the cheapy airline because that goes hard after a while, use the soft silicone airline.

yeah I have the same problem for the water going into sump. Would it work better if i placed a control velve at the bottom, control the speed of the flow into the sump ?

Did the overflow silcencer, works like a dream.

My skinny C2C overflow gurgles like mad if the return valve is all the way open. I have to tune it just so to keep the water level in the tank high enough to keep it silent but not overflow the tank.
