I tried to search for an answer but was not able to find out what this is. So I don't know if it is a good or bad thing.

looks like a spaghetti worm. Pic bit unclear.

Is it a lot of fine tentacles coming out from the same place?

Apologies for the bad pic. Yes all the "tentacles" are coming out of one place and is red/purple in color.
