Hey guys, I'm trying to find out what people use to speed up the nitrogen cycle. More for interests' sake, I am content with letting it run out naturally but just want to gain as much knowledge as possible (tank has been running for two weeks today). I am a bit hesitant with going with advice from the LFS, so was just wondering what, if any, products you use and with what results?

It's never a good idea to rush things, especially trying to speed up a cycle, however, 2 products that I know of that seem to assist with this are Seachem Stability and then these products from Prodibio - Biodigest, Stop Ammo and Startup.

Now you can add Microbacter by Brightwells. The whole trick of cycling is to introduce decent populations of bacteria into your system. The stuff that Viper mentioned is also good and the MB is a new bullet in our arsenal

ok well it's been 2 weeks - ammonia has been hovering around 0 or 0.1 - using a nutrafin test kit, it's sometime hard to tell the colour. anyway it's low. nitrate has gone up a bit, 2.5ppm (it was dead zero last week). probably a small spike from the LS i added last week. will now wait a while before adding anything else.
