Think this is a nice and simple way to set up a dsb without too many nitty gritty stuff:

yes, thats simple, large and easily maintained. Very nice photo. it would be an easy add on to any sump if you have the space. I'll remeber that pic...where was the tank kept? as in what country?

Crispin, it is on the Phillipines Forum, they have small tanks as well as very practical Dsb Sumps

I like the design. I always prefer having a dedicated chamber just for LR. In my 1M cube, I had my LR first then my DSB.(No particular reason why the LR was first then the DSB.)

I've always wondered if it's such a good idea to have a chamber with live rock with no water movement? Detritus always settles there, but we only seem to worry about it settling in the display.

Mudshark, I've also been wondering about the same thing. That is the reason why I run filter wool in my overflow which is changed ever 2 day, to catch as much detritus as possible.

I have a pump (the chiller outlet) under my Liverock in the sump, it helps a lot

What are the dimensions of this? ...and each space? Honestly, it doesn't look like any way I'd set up a DSB... BUT, if it works for you, it works for you.

    Nope, not for me.
    Reasons
DSB should have biggest foorprint that you can have. There is a tread of Sihaya on that.
Water level above DSB too shallow. Can only handle really slow flow rates. Anything else will cause a sandstorm.
    Possible dead corner left front.
I will swap LR and sand chambers.

Looks neat - BUT, I am with Riaan on this..... DSB should have the BIGGEST square metre-age as possible.......
