Hello everyone. I'm Gawie. Currently I have a Cube (Boyu TL-450) which is 58L total capacity. It is quite small but I figured to start small and learn first.

At the moment I'm looking at a tank that only has water in it.

I look forward to learn from you all in doing marine aquariums the proper way

Welcome to MASA Gawie, glad you joined. I hope you used reverse osmosis water to start off with as tap water contains a lot of nasties.
Why is there only water in? After you add the salt to the RO water, let it circulate for 24hrs, check salinity, adjust if needed and then circulate for another 24hrs. Then you put live rock and substrate in and wait the cycle of about 4-6 weeks before adding fish.
If you want to learn, read the link in my signature on starting a marine tank - great info ;)

    Welcome to MASA !!!!!

I have the bigger Boyu and mine came with bio-balls and ceramic noodles in the back compartments. If your Boyu came with the same,id advise you remove it as soon as possible as this will become a nitrate factory in the long run!!!

And remember patience is the name of this game.

Thanks Tobes. Yes, I have a RO unit at home. I filled the tank with that water. It took long though. The RO unit is small. I'm the adventurous type and like exploring. I read an article on the 'mega powerful nitrate and phosphate remover. I'm kinda keen on building a small thing like that to see what it does. This coming weekend I'll go buy my first piece of LR and also a silinity meter. These things are quite expensive. So I'm going to take it very slow. Patience is the virtue with marine tanks which will suit me fine
I would like to keep things as stable as possible right from the start. Luckily I have a friend that has been doing marine tanks for a few years.
I added the salt according to the directions on the box but have no idea if its correct.

My other fish tanks are fresh water with Malawi and blood parrots in it. The marine tank is virgin ground for me. I'm sure this is going to be a quite steep learning curve. I can't wait to sit in fron't of the tank and look at all the smallest of creatures living in it :slayer:. That, you don't get in a fresh water tank .

Hey Gawie!! Welcome to MASA! I see you've migrated across from freshwater too! Soon the whole of TASA will have switched across from bathwater ;-)

Sounds like your ready for a great little nano! I LOVE my nano, marine blows fresh straight out of the... water? :p

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!
