    Hi everyone,

I've just finished making my own 300l marine tank with most items home made - tank, biological filter, sump, DSB, overflow, but haven't as yet made my protein skimmer. I've tried making a protein skimmer, but failed as it leaked :(, so eager to try it again, but I need more info as to where I could get marine goop (or the like) in Johannesburg.

Anyway, looking forward to learning loads here.

    Hi and welcome.

There are quiet a few DIY skimmers around, just search through the threads. I have tried some myself. We should hook up some time and share ideas.

    Good Luck

    Brilliant skimmer

    Hey Topdog,

I had looked at your skimmer - dam good job!!! well-done. I'd love to try create one just like yours but I don't know what adhesive you used and where to get it. I'd really appreciate it if you can fill me in on what adhesive works well to glue plastic/pvc together - something like marine goop, but I don't think we get it here in SA.

Here are a few videos of my setup - please bear in mind it's the first time taking on such a project.
