    So,

    I was gifted this really awesome little nano (the Aquaria 37l) by my bro-in-law. Problem is, he is in Durbs and I emigrated to Jhb and ended up getting the initial setup through the "phone a friend" method :lol:
    I still require tons of assistance and any constructive criticism of my tank is appreciated.

    Anyhoo, here is pics of my tank (apologies for the poor pic quality, only have a phone camera):
    The tank getting accustomed to its new home on the kitchen counter:

    Added some tap water to the tank (I kid, I kid! It is salt water, just checking to see if you guys are reading this) to get the pump running:
    [IMG]

    Setup my DSB (should I fill up that missing 1cm?):

    My skimmer skimming:

    Put in some Arag(insert rest of spelling here) and some live rock (about 4kgs of the Kenyan stuff):
    [IMG]

    After the tank settled you can see the rock (lights on):

    Lights off:

    Still need to do some aquascaping but that is a project for tomorrow :D
    I want to know if there is anything else to add to the tank to help it cycle? Is there anything else that I should add to the "sump" at the back for now or is it fine at the moment?

    Thanks in advance! :peroni:

    Hi an welcome to MASA!

    The tank looks fine for now. you could add some cheato to the dsb part if you really wanted to.

    Let it run the cycle stage, either naturally, or by adding some of the products to help with the bacteria like Prodibio, Special Blend , Stability etc. @dallasg made a very informative post abouth this during the week.

    You can read it here :
    Believing in products we use - cycling a tank - bacteria - Marine Aquariums of South Africa

    @Tobes will most likely get around to saying Welcome, in his signature is a very nice article about starting a marine tank.

    Welcome to the forum! Congrats on getting a cool little nano tank..
    1st .. what water did you use to mix the salt? Tap water or RO?
    2nd.. are you sure that a DSB goes there? :whistling:

    Have a look at this thread
    My New AWM37 NANO setup - Marine Aquariums of South Africa
    and if you have any questions about the tank ask @Aquaria-SA as he is the distributor! :) .. I know in the back theres a little refugium, thats why it has a light

    @Jeann1
    Thank you! I will look into that :) The LPS that I went to didn't have (or know) what Chaeto was so I am going to have to wait until the owner gets back or I find someone else who knows XD

    @jacoc and @Tremayn
    Thanks as well! As far as I know, the middle chamber of the back of the tank (chaeto chamber) could host the DSB, it is over 10cms deep. I have also over 3cm of arag in the tank as well. I can add more (since I got over 4kgs left over) if required. I have never quite figured out if having a big sand bed in the front tank would be good or not and would appreciate any guidance you have in this area :)
    The salt water was mixed by the LPS as I am still a bit clueless in this area. :blush:

    @Tobes @Charl_Stanhope @belindamotion and @chikaboo
    Thanks as well for the warm welcome! ^_^

    Just reading through the mentioned threads and noticed a discussion regarding cured live rock. The LR currently in my tank is cured. I just purchased a heater today but haven't put it in. Will this affect how quickly the first cycle happens?

    Yes put the heater in ASAP, bacteria will die if the water temp gets too low so this will certainly affect the cycle

    Nice little tank, they are well put together.

    I would remove that nice little Apple product from next to your tank (and all other electrical stuff), you will end up spilling water when you do a water change. Expensive water.
