    Hi all :thumbup::m13:

New to the whole marine world:eek::m85::m86::m87:
been learning so much in the past few months
started a tank here are the specs

    800 tall x 750 wide x 750 deep (display tank)

    500 high x 680 wide x 700 wide(sump)

Phosphate reactor(not sure of brand could be 2 little fishes)with an hailea 1000lh pump(running gfo)

a reef octopus reactor with octupus 1000 pump(running nitra cubes)

deltec skimmer with aqua bee and jebo pumps

currently running a random 2500L/H return(but going to install in the next few days a hailea 6500 l/h pump

lighting is a 3 t5 bulbs with aqua medic reef blue 10k white and 15k white
(have a dual t5 and MH unit but tank was running to hot:().(have aquired a chiller(hailea 300A) to help combat this now:thumbup:)
in tank have some tunze wave makers but not sure of their model etc:m85:

have about +- 30kgs live rock
and have aragonite as my substrate and have in my dsb in my sump

have an aqua medic auto top off system

tank has been running for a month and a half now and looks like its doing well been playing with many designs but think i have one that is going to stick.

    tank has properly cycled..:thumbup

will post all my pics from start to now tomorrow

you can maybe turn your flow around. so that your drain goes into your "last" chamber and flow to the "first" (return). what is the Pro's opinion on this?

yip, normally the filtration sequence is mechanical, biological then chemical.

Skimmer, filter woool, filter socks etc, first chamber.

Liverock, DSB, Seachem Matrix, Cheato, caulerpa etc, second.

    Chemical like carbon last chamber.

just that solid parts that would have been taken out by the skimmer, might now get stuck around the live rock. Extra settlement or detritus.

A bit more work to maintain.

Hey all thanks for the replies

No the ultimate question I have now is....if I can't swap my sump to work backwards cause of its design... Would I be better off setting up the sump like this

As the over flow comes into my sump put bio balls the. Below that have broken small pieces of rock which over time turns live then taking out the dsb and running my skimmer in the bottom half of chamber two and putting the skimmer on top and last chamber empty for now except obviously the return pump
