    Hi all

I am new to MASA and new to marine.

I have experience with FW, but SW is now on the horizon. I will soon be bombarding this site with all sorts of weird and wacky quezzies, so beware!

    Kind regards,

    Lando

    Thanks for the welcomes everyone!;)

I have a few queries, but will be airing them in due course on the forums.

Number 1: I plan on purchasing a RED SEA MAX 250 in the next few weeks and have been getting a cuople of quotes from some of our sponsors and a few other LFS's. Some say "Go for it! Awesome system!", while others say D.I.Y. Save money!!!

    What to do,what to do.

There are not a lot of threads on RSM 250's or even 130D's for that matter... I have looked on Reefsanctuary "Red Sea Max Owner's Club" forum and have heard only great things about the system.Maybe it has just not taken off here in SA?

    Any advice?

Welcome :) .. The rs 250 is a great system and it has like everything you need, but its pretty expensive hey. If you build your own system and get a 2nd hand tank you can do better but it wont be as pretty lol

i pressume its 250 liters so thats like? 55 gallons. This is a good starter tank but it restricts ur options of stock, as i feel tangs, larger angles ect need atleast 90 gallons to thrive;) and lets be honest... a reef tank isnt the same without them:thumbup:

Welcome to MASA Commando, glad you joined us. Being a beginner I would advise you to read the link in my signature on starting a marine tank, even before buying anything - great info ;)

    Thanks guys!

I have been reading up on marines since I was 12 (I am now almost 28!)!

I have had extensive experience with FW, but I am still learning new things everyday. It seems that the more I learn, the more questions I have. I have read almost every beginner thread on this forum... and on SA Reefkeeping. It seems as though there are more Capetonians on this forum, so I will probably be spending more time on MASA.

It is time now for me to take the plunge and finally get a "FREAKING MARINE TANK"...

I know that I need to take things SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLYYYYY...

My wife would like a tank that looks great for our dining room... the RSM fits those parameters... and she loves the look of it. I have a 1.2m Oscar tank in our braai room / washroom... we need to move on to marines now for the "posh" public areas;)

Thanks for all the tips so far. As soon as I have my tank, I will start a thread...
