    Howzit all
decided to finally introduce myself to the awesome crowd at masa.
well I currently own two tanks
    a 100 l tank and
    a 70 l tank
    my livestock so far are:
    c . lunula
    2 × c . auriga
    c . vagabundus
    2×Sargent major
    stars and stripes puffer
    belly striped puffer
    and a sea cat fish
All the livestock I own thus far was caught by myself and are all about 2-4 months old and juveniles
I'm working on upgrading to a 400 l system (fowlr) in the next couple of months as to provide a proper environment for the puffers (mainly) as they grow the largest
I think this is a awesome site and it has provided me with so much advice thanks
    Adrian

    Thanks for the welcome guys
    Got my first question
I'm on holiday on the west coast and the sea sand here is a nice pure white colour. I was wondering if it would be Ok to use in a setup. worried it will leach silica as I heard it contains silica
    any input appreciated

Although sand contains silica, it does not leach. If you had chemicals in your tank that would dissolve out the silica, so would it leach out of your glass. It is an old tale and not a concern.

I'm using sea sand. It is very heavy. Keep that in mind.

Thanks riaanp I also use sea sand in my tanks and intend to use it for my dsb but was just wondering about the sand here as there are huge kelp forests and lots of kelp which get washed ashore, decompose and deposit silica into the sand but should not be a problem?

Worry more about human pollution. Dirty rivers and shipwrecks.

So.....Thought it was time for a bit of an update
stock list all the same one of the sm was being bullied so moved him to other tank he. The two sergeants had hectic white spot for about three weeks but after a high protein diet(whole mussels) they fought it off without treatment. All fish seem healthy and fat and doing well . plan to start 400l end of may just waiting for the right one .Decided to go planted as I like the look and it suits my fish.

you are already close to maximum fish for that size tank. And the sergeant will still grow a lot.

    Hi guys just wondering

Can you run seachem matrix in its own compartment in a sump
Or do you need a canister filter or a reactor

    Thanks Adrian

I have mine sitting in the sump and seems to be fine. The only issue I have with it is that detritus does settle between the stones.

    hey all

update time so got new tank
    120x65x45dispay
    90x35x35 sump
    filtration is
ts3 skimmer, dsb and im thinking seachem matrix?
not 100 on filtration so advice appreciated
ok lighting atm is 2x 36w t8 one blue one white
Now i plan on geting a 20w led floodlight for display and then just running 2 blue t8
I know that lighting for fowlr is unimportant but bearing in mind that my tnk depth is quit high would this be suficient for some easeir corals latrr on as the kelvin rating on the led is 5500 to 6500 and is this lighting suficient for macro algea

my fuge is on my dsb has a 150w metal halide over it .is it ok for a fuge to be on the dsb?

    any input and advice apreciated

    thanks adrian
