hey triven, great that you joined masa:)

its a great place to learn and ask questions so if you are just starting out there are some really great threads to help you along. Read up on starting out in marines, and definatley read through some of the members threads, great eye candy and lots of ideas on what you can and should do :)

Very often people get advice from their local fish store (LFS) which unfortuantly is good for the store but not really the reefer and can lead to problems. MASA is a collection of very knowledgable (present company excluded!) reefers who have no finacial gain to our postings, so you get honest good advice, free:) that way we can share in your experiences, both good and bad and help when you need it, or learn when you have something to share:)

the more you ask the better :)

what sort of tank do you have? what are the specs?
    do you have a sump?
    do you have a skimmer?
    do you have a dsb?

what sort of tank mates have you gotten so far?
where do you hope to get to with this tank?

A VERY WARM WELCOME to MASA Triven! I am really glad that you found us, and joined MASA!
Great to have you ON BOARD!

OK - First off - it SOUNDS like you have a diatom outbreak. This is usually part of the initial cycle process...... The cycle CAN take up to 4 months to fully complete....

Diatoms are not algae, but live off the silicates in the water.....

BUT, without pics we cannot make a 100% clear ID....

Sounds like you some "OK" kit..... For a 200 litre tank, though....
BUT, please ensure that you don't overstock with fish....

BUT, for us to assist you FULLY, we do require those water parameters....

I hope that you enjoy your stay here.... Good luck man!
