OK - Suunto D4 SCUBA diving computer.....

My last/old computer has an issue where the digits did not show up anymore. So, with us going SCUBA diving end of next week.... My wife thought it best that I get a new one.
So, Suunto have a special on their D4 model - a scaled down version of the flag-ship D9.

Fully graphical dot matrix LCD screen (as you can see on the pics). It has a dive log of 240 hours of SCUBA diving. Data is downloadable to your PC. Is rated to go to 100 metres - and the diving sensor can record up to 99 metres.... I will NEVER go deeper than 40 or 45 metres.... I am not qualified.... don't wanna take chances...
The recording of my dives are user changeable - between 1 second, and 50 seconds... (it records my depth, water temp, acceleration speed (up or down) or deceleration speed (up or down), my "computed" nitrogen saturation, and number of dives.

As it is a computer, it works out how I am supposed to dive - how deep, and how long I am allowed to stay underwater for, at a certain depth, based upon my previous dives, and how long I have spent out of the water between dives....
It also works out what my dive profile was on the previous dive, and base my next "allowance" on this information.

It shows me a graphical display of all my dive profiles (as I go up and down on a dive - deeper and shallower)..... that I can see whether I have made any dangerous moves - too quick shallower, or too quickly deeper - or too deep...

My life depends on this thing - so I do as it says, when I SCUBA dive....

When this computer tells me my dive is over - then I take it to heart - then my dive is over!

Test it in your display tank. Every time you clean the glass, you put the watch on. After 3 times it will tell you if you cleaned too fast or too slow, or missed a spot.... Lol.
Nice toy Jacques, now they need to make one to repell sharks, and then I am in

Hi guys! Many thanks! Sorry for only replying now.... been a bit hectic...

And Sean_K - why would I want to have sharks repelled? ;)

Viper - as Dallas says - it "glows" underwater, as well as has a light for me to read it...
It depends on how deep you dive, and how overcast it is the day - otherwise it is still very easy to read - well, my other dive computers were....

    Tobes - Sunday a week's time ;)

Jaak - thanks for the comment...

    Scuba - I know I have a WONDERFUL wifey!

Yes guys - this is an amazing piece of equipment. I probably has more computing power than my laptop. And it fits on my wrist! :)

And yes - I don't mind spending money that I can depend my life on. At least I KNOW that I will be safe! BUT - being a Rescue Diver I always double up - So I dive with my Dive watch as well ;) At least I have DOUBLE the assurance.... but only the dive computer actually monitors my diving profile, water temp, up and down speeds, and work out a nitrogen saturation limit for my dives..... that I know that the chances are GREATLY reduced that I would get DCI/DCS....
And I have learnt to be EXTREMELY obedient of my dive computer! ;)
