    Hi Guys and Gals

My name is Brandon, and I am about to start the new hobby of a Marine Aquarium.

So I have quite a few questions....

I have my tank and sump ready to go.
I need to know what hardware i require to get started.
    I have a 71 Gallon 275l Tank.

    Protein Skimmer
    Lighting
Pumps and what ever else i need to get going.

    Thanks:thumbup:

    Wlecome!!

Before we can answer those questions you need to tell us what you want to keep in your tank (fish only, corals etc). Depending wht you want to keep will determine what lighting, skimmer and pumps you will require.
There some very good threads in the beginner section that outline everything you need.

Great, i want to have a reef tank, with fish, corals and invertebrates.

I will also pop into the hardware section and have a look to see what there is.

    Also give exact tank dimensions.
What corals you interested in keeping (softies, LPS?). Browse through the MEmbers tank section, its a great place to get stocking ideas.
I know its hard, but its best to sit down and plan your livestock before making any purchases. Will save you alot of trouble in the long run.

Get the new reef Octopus NW series skimmers.. I have the NW250 and it is a beast! It about as good as a Bubble Blaster (Ive been told by a certain skimmer man that its as good if not better than a BB5000, wont mention names hehe) .. So yeah, its very good value for money :) ...

Welcome to MASA, glad you joined us. There's some reading for you in my signature on starting a marine tank. Take the time and read it, you'll be glad you did. Some new guys ask for advice and then they don't read that article only to come back later with problems that could've been avoided :whistling:

Welcome Brother... Now although it may seem tedious, etc.... Read, read then read again. This little exercise will probably be the best learning curve you gonna get and its gonna save ya lots and lots of $$$$$..... Then enjoy the cycling of your tank which will start to change after a few weeks and then its the laboriuos task of watching an empty tank with nothing in it for days on end. During that time, do some searching through our sponsor forums, go pay them a visit (Without your wallet) and start to make a mental picture of what your tank's gonna look like whn its ready to go. Remember, that the smaller the tank, the quicker things happen... and as a wise man on this forum said "Only bad things happen quickly in Marine keeping." Enjoy your new "Lifestyle", cause from here on in your life's gonna start changing.... your sleeping patterns are different and when you start with your first coral or fish, I guarantee, you will wake up only to check if its all right in the middle of the night. Thats when you know the bug has bitten and its gonna stay.... And, as a newby myself, I can vouch for a few members here who will help you no matter what the issue is..... Oh, and if you dont post pics, it never happened.....;)
