    Hi Guys ,

Just managed to buy a Tank and get it started up. Have been trawling through the Forums here for the best advice on setting it. Please have a look and I would really appreciate any advice given,

    Tank Details:
Juwel Lido 120 with Internal Mechanical Filteration
    T5 Lighting System (Make unknown)
    Juwel Protein Skimmer 3.0 (Internal)
    1 x Powerhead

Well I managed to get the Live sand and LiveRock settled in (Managed to get the live rock coralline algae from a LFS . Found few little critters in there (a centipede looking creature)

Just popped in my 2 prawns and awaiting some magic to appear within the next few weeks. I would like to start off with some clowns and maybe 1 or 2 soft corals for colour. What would you guys advise on?

Hi and welcome to MASA. hope the tank cycled before you added the "prawns". please wait at least 8 weeks after the initial start of the system before adding any LS as you will lose them due to parameters spiking very high. best to buy a test kit too, so you can test your parameters.

    Hi Samtoo, Welcome to MASA
Patience is the major key in this hobby... Please wait until your tank has completed the cycling before adding any more LS?
As the fish said, you should get a test kit that can at least measure phosphates, nitrites and nitrates, as these are critical parameters to maintain life in your system. When these levels are "non-detectable" for at least 3 consecutive days, you will know that your tank is ready to add new critters.

Remember, the slower you do things, the less chance you have of creating swings in system parameters. So do not go out and buy all your LS in one go :) Although it is tempting :D

Take this time to read up on what fish / coral you want to add to your system, and play with your scaping to get it ready to accept corals of your choosing, so that everything will be ready when you do introduce your next purchase(s).

Remember, when in doubt, search, when still clueless, ASK!!! No such thing as a silly question, and plenty of people around to give advice.

Whilst you may get different opinions on any subject, choose the solution that makes sense to you, and fit into your lifestyle and situation.

And most of all, have fun learning, end take time to enjoy what you are blessed enough to have.

Bristleworm. Good to have as part of your clean up crew.

You'll be amazed at the weird things that come out of the woodwork after dark.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your aquarium!

I think the 2 prawns popped in were of the dead variety, to try speed up the cycle?
