Ok well i am gonna be setting up two tanks shortly, well started on the one allready.
I have started with the Fish only tank and its in the cycle stage, got about 18kg's of live rock in it that comes from a mates tank but most of it will go in to the 2nd tank.

Ok so my first question is on lighting for a 600 cube.

On my old tank i had 3 150w halide's and 4 t5s and that was cool but it was 1.2 x 800 x 550. the new tank is much smaller so i am scaling down on the lights alot no halides just t5's.

Tank will be mostly zoa's and sps, not to keen on the softies.

    My initial thoughts were to go 3 x 20k, 2 x 10k and 1 actinic for fun, or 4 x 20k, 1 x 10k and 1 actinic.

Of the above setups what would the gurus reckon would be better. ( ivan and sunburst i need you here)

Flow would not be a issue going with a 4 or 3 6000l high flow pumps and maybe a smallish cls.

Filtration is also sorted live rock dsb scrubber skimmer.

The tank is small so my stock levels will also be low maybe 4 or 5 sticks and the same with the zoa's.

All my old sps colonies are still doing very well in mates tanks so i have some frags to claim in the future, and i have my eye on scuba's yellow zoa's ( lol )

Any way a bit of info for you guys and once all is in order i will start posting some pics.

I'm no guru but i think you should go for the First option, SPS need that high low K rating, but have a look at poseidons thread, i think he had something like 3 to 2 aswell with two being actinic and he has some hectic colours.

Tridan - sounds AWESOME man. Look - personally, I think it seems that actinics/bluer lighting seems to bring out coloration more? Or is it BLASTING SPS corals with HUGE wattage of metal halides? I am not so sure anymore....

BUT - I also like your 1st idea better....

Thanks J I plan to take this one easy and slow, a mate recently informed me of a study into different lights 3 identical tanks 3 different kelvin lights but all set to the same par and apparently the 20k blew the socks off the 10k and 14k so my thoughts are to option 2 but i will see what happens i wanna read this study for myself just trying to find it on the net.

Well one tank up and running with some live rock, almost finished the hood.
Thanks to my mate Muddy for some sand to kick start the dsb.

Well finally got the cube( shot les ) busy having a stand welded up for it but am still lost to the lighting situation.

Have thrown another scenario into play, 150w halide 20k and 4 t5's, prob 2 actinic and 2 10 or 14k.

One thing i have been toying around with is setting up my filtration, was thinking of running the system skimerless for a while, and try out the whole scrubber idea.
Will still run live rock and a dsb, but would be interested to see how it would run with
the ats as my primary source of po4 removal.

Please dont ask for pics just yet tried but my camera is shot, will take the thing in for fixing soon.

Tridan - if you would, please document EVERYTHING? Your water parameters - water clarity, coral growth, growth of any unwanted/nuisance algae....
