    Hi there PPL

Me and one of my friend have been chating about this for a few days now.

And i think i want a biger tank.
Not realy bigger Liter wize. Only a bit longer and wider than what i have now.

    Please give some ideas.
    Currently i have a 1200x600x600 with 550water level.
Im thinking of getting 2x150 Methal higlights on my current setup.
But before i get these light i wana make sure it will work on my new setup. (if i do get a biger tank)

The dimentions for the new tank will be 1300x700x500 (water level at 450)
Theres a few resons for this dimentions.
    1) want more space for my fish
    2) want more space for scaping (want all the live rock in the middle of the tank. Not against the back glass)
    3) dont want to climb on the ladder every time i want to work in the tank
    4) want a brand new tank, new glass not scratched
    5) want to build my own setup (with the help of my friend, cant do it on my own)
    6) still want to use my chiller and reeftek ts2 skimmer.
    7) Oh ja, and with this tank i want to be in one of the MASA fetured tanks.

I dont want to spend to many thousands, hehe. But it must be well planed and no mistakes, no corections that have to be made later. Just perfect.

Im not a rich dude so im gona try and do everything myself.
Im also gona do all my woodwork myself again. But this time its gona look even beter.

    So ja.
    Please PPL

    Give me some ideas.
    The planning starts now.

    MHAHAHAHAH MMMHAHAHAHA

    Hey ppl

Ive been thinking and if i put the tank in the same spot as the old one i cant go bigger than 1.5mx700mmx500

Id love to go for 1.8mx700mmx500 but then id have to put the tank where the tv is now. Then id bel able to do a tank veiwable from both sides.

Maby i must make a drawing of how my livving room looks then youl understand beter.
But please ppl, give me all the ideas you have. I want to do this this one time and get it perfect.

Im also thinking of tiling the livving room then.
MMM, but all of thats gona cost alot of money.

    Ideas ppl ideas please.

What do you have? A 1.5m?

What would you go for if you would get a tank now?

I've built a few tanks now over the years and even looking at my current tank, I would honestly say for maintenance, equipment purchases, especially lighting! I would suggest staying with your size!
    Only change I would make is I would tweak the dimensions slightly: 1300L x 800W x 600H.
Building your own tank is really fun, you will enjoy loads!

hehe. Ja well also if i take my tv away its gona be a bit more cash cos my topup tank wont work any more and its gona cost a bit more.

So moving the tank to another room or another part of the lounch wont work.
So when i do the new tank it will be on the some spot.

And ive also taken some mesurements again and i wont be able to go longer than 1350mm.
So ill have to play around for the with. And the hight i think will be something like 450mm or 500mm.

So ja. But for now i have to get a 250L or so drum cos i got myself a RO unit today.
And i will also have to get my plumbing right tomorow.

Ill make a post for that.

Thanx for all the advice ppl. Please ppl, all tips welcome. Let the Ideas role.

If I could get a new tank I would go 1800L x 80-100W and water level at 45..
If you are limited to 1350mm long then make your tank wide, like 800-1000mm wide. It will compensate for the lack of length and will give you awesome scaping options almost like a cube ;)

    Also true yes.

But there im also a bit limited.
Only max to 700, maybe 800. cos if i go to wide then the dores will open up against the coffy table. hehe

So ja im a bit screwed there.

    Nice man.

But i think 800 is a bit to high for me.
Cos i wana stop using a ladder getting into the top of the tank.

Im gona have look at your thread now.

Go as big as you can :) .. But if its just a little bigger that your current tank then its not worth it. Rather wait when you can get a much bigger tank :)

The problem i have with a tank alot biger than mine is space.
I dont have space in my lounch for it.
And i also dont want to go to big cos id still want to keep my skimmer and chiller.
Dont have more cash to change them aswell.

    Dont wana go over 600L.

Remember one thing, if i go bigger it meens more water and more salt.
And that meens more cash and maintanance.

I already baught myself a Ro unit so with water im ok, but theres no way geting past the salt price. That stays the same.

    So ja, im still thinking a 1300mm X 700mm X 500mm with water level at 450mm
That gives me about 410L - 10% for live rock and substrate gives me 369L + 100L for sump so then it will be more or less 469L tank.

    Or maybe i should go for a 1350mm X 750mm X 550mm (water level at 500mm)
    Giving us 506L - 10% = 446L + 100L (sump) Total water of 556L.

MMMM i wounder what i should do?

If you could choose what will you take?
    2 x 150W MH or 2 x 250w MH?
Im gona put them on my current setup and wana use them on the next setup aswell.

    Thanx
