    Howzit guys. I'm planning my next tank. I'm looking at 1500L x 1000W x 600H with a 500 water height with a sump to match the tank. Will 10mm glass be fine? Its going to eurobraced. Looking at an overflow box in the center of the back glass or a skinny overflow with an external overflow box on either left or right.

    10mm eurobraced is more than good enough for your original dimensions.

    Should I go for a double base. Was looking at a skinny overflow with box outside.

    No need.

    I'm not a fan of skinny overflows because stuff tends to get stuck in them and can be a massive pain to remove. I'm using a small internal side-drilled overflow box with a durso + ball valve, and then a second non-durso pipe slightly higher as a failsafe if the ball valve ever blocks. Very quite and small.

    @KATHIE If you stay with your original dimensions, but make the water height 450 instead of 500, you will almost have the same safety factor as if you were using 12mm glass at 500 water height.

    Thanks guys. I will go with 450 water and I will go with a internal corner overflow box.

    I had an internal skinny overflow on previous tank. Width 10mm.

    Current tank also got a "skinny" overflow, of 20mm on the inside. 2 Holes drilled and on the outside an overflow box with the Bean Animal outlet design.

    With 20mm things that can go over, does not get stuck.

    Keep in mind that a skinny overflow with euro bracing going over it will severely limit your access to get in there. Even a standard corner overflow box. Say a box of 150mm by 150mm, but with 80mm euro bracing over it, will give you about a 60mm square access. So if something goes in. They are in.

    If you are going to put euro bracing over the corner overflow box, then fit your bulkheads before you do the euro bracing, or before you do the overflow box itself.

    @KATHY I am building a tank 1900 X 1000 X 450 12mm glass without top bracing.
