Last year the wife made a deal with me, if i could keep a small tank for a year without any fish dying, I could get a beast of a tank.

The previous mini tank, 170l Corner unit built and glued myself(Explains the tackiness)
Horrible way for me to spend my time, requires huge amounts of daily maintenance

Currently been maintaining 6 fish and 2 shrimp for 4 months. Lost 2 fish in the beginning to a very aggressive tang, basically bash the other guys into the wall

Tank & Sump was delivered 2 weeks ago

Began plumbing and sump sections lots of leaks.

Apex installation was a nightmare and should have not placed the R/O unit so close to the electricity.

Currently day 2 of the cycle, nitrate/nitrite/ammonia all low, hopefully pick up soon then die down. Have been using Stability range to start the project. Water seems to be cloudy due to bacteria? Hopefully by friday it will clear up

    Tank Size : 1750x 800x700
    Sump size : 1500 x 250 x450

    Problems i encountered so far

Protein Skimmer - had to shave off a piece of the base to make it fit.
Neptune Apex wifi - Basically had to get a new router to get it to work
Neptune Apex mp40w linking - They don't tell you to power cycle the the power bar
R/O system - Broke the outflow nozzle going to the canister, glued it together. praying it will hold
Lots of noise - Fitted 2 silencers, hopefully when the cupboards get built around, it'll be quieter

I am a pro at the Apex systems now though lol

Congrats on your new tank! Hopefully you sort out the teething issues and enjoy the tank going forward :)

Water is still cloudy, might have even gotten worse......

    Current stats
Have the carbon reactor and phosphate reactor running at the same time.
    Protein Skimmer is on
PH has been stable at 8.29
Temperature fluctuates from 26.1 to 27.8 during a 24 hour cycle
Removed the glass lid last night(thought it might have been an oxygen problem) but no change
    Ammonia at 0.2 ppm (stable)
    Nitrate at 5ppm (slight increase)
Nitrite at 0.5 ppm (slight increase)

    Any ideas?

Tank has been cloudy since the 25th but a lot of it was from the live sand. It died down on Sat and has been this way since with very little change.

Start of cupboard build, tank had a late diatome outbreak but cleared in 2 days. Still have cloudy water.....
Have a feeling its the sand but not sure what to do about it.... Wavemakers MP40's are running at 30%

I used seachem clarity...turn up powerheads and add some filter floss in the sump and set skimming to wet..should clear up in a few hours.
The seachem clarity is a flocculent that binda all the small particles together which is easily removed by skimmer and filter floss

Nice cupboard. Is that the wall unit to the right? seems to match.

I have used seachem purigen in the past to clear cloudy water and it has worked very well for me... Clears up the water quickly and literally makes the tank crystal clear...

Tried abit of Purigen, 24 hours later tank was crystal clear. Was like this for two days and went back to cloudy.

Conc: Purigen helped but not a long term solution for that price, need to figure out whats causing this :(

Will update with new pics, going to try matrix carbon this weekend and restore the purigen
