Hey guys. My aquarium has been running for 2weeks now.one week skimming.
pre saltwater mixed water perchased from LFS. Additives added for bacteria.
After doing lots of reading on this site and realising I have made a rush decision to get everything running and the LFS making money out of me.
now I would like to add a sump.
the space I have is 58Lx30Wx46H. Hight is the total hight in bottom.
the problem I have is with a skimmer.wont fit in there.i think.i was thinking of using my existing on to hang on the back of the sump I want to use.or should I get something else to hang on sump.what would the sizes be of my compartments in sump.
And is my option a wise one.
    My DT specs are 65Lx37Wx43H
I was thinking of drilling 2 holes just below water level of DT for return and supply.

My tank has a overflow in the middle and 2 returns on either side. Someone on here is selling 2xts1 skimmers. Maybe one of them will fit underneath your stand. Ill go for a skimmer thats in sump but hang on can work as well. The compartments depends on the skimmer size and return pump. I think it will be to small to add a dsb so maybe first chamber for overflow, skimmer and bio cubes and second chamber you can run carbon and return or reactors if you have. Hope this helps. Any other questions?

Patience young man. Sideways neck is painful :p
Leave the skimmer where it is then, nothing wrong with that, or hang it on the sump, or put it in the sump.
That would depend on what equipment you want to have in your sump and if you want a DSB or not, although DSB's are becoming a bit old school. Ideally you want 3 basic sections, first one for your water in and skimmer, 2nd one for some other filtration media, like DSB or reactors etc. Heater. 3rd one for your return pump. Remember to build your sump so that it can handle the amount of water overflowing from the display tank during a power outage, or you'll end up flooding the house.

Yes. Sumps are a nice addition to have. Although having said that, you don't HAVE to have a sump for a marine tank. Many ways to skin the cat.

In all honestly I started the way you did. I would sell what you have now and get a tank and sump combo, there are some great deals on the forum at the moment, it will save you lots of time and energy.

Heres my reading after week and half.
    ph . 8.2
    nitrite . 0.2
    nitrate . 5
    Amonia . 0.4

ive only added bacteria substrate when started the cycle.
do I need to add anything else or do I just need to be patient.
I have live rock in tank from the start.
in mean time im busy building my stand for my new 1.2m tank and sump.

You can continue to add bacteria. The bottle usually has ditections on as how to dose for starting an aquarium.
