I think this could work well even if it was a national group.

I agree with this, but we should keep a Frag bank, some of us can spend years growing and filling out a collection of unique corals. Given them time and money involved its seems crazy not to have an insurance of some kind "coral bank" We should have bank in our Marine Club all around the country were we swop and store corals that have been fragged, so that when needed you can always have a backup plan!

    Just another thought? :whistling:

That's a great idea. I am prepared to donate a few frags to this "bank".

Once they grow to a certain size, it can then be fragged and sold to finance some of the running costs. I think members would also have to pay a monthly fee, which could be a stumbling block, depending on the fee.

Exactly my thinking as well, but if you take the cost of having to buy new corals or even try replace your favorite ones and the cost of how long it took for your corals to grow and mature, a small fee for this is absolutely worth it.

guys i recommend that rather than a frag bank i suggest that each frag circle ensures a greater diversity in that circle so that if your coral dies you can put a callout into your frag circle to see if anyone has a piece to punt back to you. no extra cost or paperwork.

    Interest payable in frag plugs?

Whilst browsing, it is always quite pleasing to observe some colonies which look strangely familiar, sometimes even get a twitch in my pinkie.......
