I got to look into that lot because I already need a larger multi-plug and I am still busy adding gadgets...

I t is maybe good to see the bulky and a bit unsafe 3 pin SA plug being phased out. I just think they chose the wrong standard. This new plug is not compatible with euro plugs if the device require an earth. I would have hoped that the SA authorities would have chosen the Schuko standard.

The Schuko can also take the current small 2 pin plug which the new SA standard plugs can handle. The advantage they however have is that is almost universally used in Euro which all our other power and communication standards is based on. Since Europe is a big market more equipment that the require earth wires will be available with schuko plugs and thus cheaper.

one advantage of our old bulky plugs is that they are rated up to 16 Amps.
What is the maximum Amp rating on this new standard. And yes, I also would prefer if we rather went for the default schuko. All powertools have them already. And for us reefers, most pumps.

Might be the safest, but no other major country is using it. As far as I know it is only used partly in Brasil.

I would have rather hoped that we would have chosen a proven and well used standard.
