New reefer addict

    Hi All,

    Iv decided to start a marine tank,only thing is i need all the help i can get!!

    iv got a 1.2m tank,not sure the exact dimensions as yet.
    Things that i know so far is about cycling and maturing a tank(this is what iv learnt by reading,yet to do)

    i have got the 1.2m tank with metal stand and having a cupboard built around it.
    Got a ViaAqua multi skimmer HOB.
    Atman Ef4 canister filter

    Need all the rest.....and lotsa help!

    hey maj, welcome to masa and well done on your first post and first marine tank:) 1.2 is a good size to start off on, maybe a little small for some fish types, but still plenty you can do with it.

    Cycling is indeed and incredibly important phase, but what you really need to understand is the nitrogen cycle, have you read up on that?

    does that tank have an overflow and a sump, oir just intank filtration? Idealy you wnat to have an over flow, good skimmer, simple sump and some internal flow. Maybe try get a pic of the tank as it is and we can see what help we can give:)

    Hello and Welcome.

    Please look into sumps. Cannister filters are OK for freshwater setups, but sumps are a lot better for marines. Before you built your cupboard. Built the sump as big as possible.
