Hi everyone..... Ok so with the arrival of the new bank notes today, here's my new tank build  ...for those who know,my current tank was becoming a real pain as it was really high...it also had some scratches on the front glass which really bothered me...I also love the look of a wider yet shallow reef so decided to go for 1200x800x550....will still run two sumps, one for skimmer and one for everything else as I prefer it that way and with the tank being across a corner, once again I can do that....one of these days il have to transfer everything to the new tank,as I already do have the new tank standing here, but will try post few pics as it went along... :)

My current stand started rusting after 10months,so with this one,I decided to use a red oxide primer (I lost count of how many coats I did) and then a nice enamel..didn't want to galvanise as I wasn't sure if I need to drill afterwards for cabinet hinges etc etc..

Wood, another issue that has always bugged me,so went for black perspex (plexiglass)...reaaly like the look of it,and will probably last as long as I have this tank, still not sure as to how I want the front/door to be as it has to be fully kidproof (my kids just love playing in the sump)..

So as per my first post,I like the fact of having the skimmer in its own tank, hence the small stand behind the main stand...

So DT overflows into skimmer tank....skimmer tank overflows into main sump...allowing me more space to play around in the main sump...

*this new way of loading pics is kinda weird, especially for me that's dumb with these things,so hope the pics are visible...

How will you access the skimmer for cleaning with the sump in the way?

Hi @Gesiggie ,if u look at the pic there's a wall on the left, that wall is not even 4ft high,it seperates the sunken sunroom from part of thekitchen,so its very easy to get to it from the other side of the wall..had a tank there few years back as well :)

The other side of the wall is about two or three steps higher than the sunroom section..
