The new ozone reactor from Avast Marine appears to be very well built and comes with it’s own special bio-bale type media. Avast Marine is manufacturing its own media from Virgin HDPE, which has been designed for maximum dwell time and specifically for ozone reactor use. The new ozone reactor from Avast Marine will be released in three sizes and all three sizes will be offered in Avast built or YOU-built (diy kit).* The Avast built should be released first, in mid February.*Keep reading for more information and pictures

The Reactor uses a Venturi to premix the ozone/ water mixture which is then sprayed through a spray distribution plate sealed to the lid of the reactor. This gives a much finer droplet size spray than traditional “shower head” type units.*Avast Marine also decided not to use a valve but rather preset*the back pressure inside the unit. This is achieved by using basic fluid dynamic calculations, and prevents the need of fiddling with valves, which really makes the unit plug and play.*Water and ozone will pass through the same outlet to a carbon reaction chamber, which will be optional since many people already*have media reactors that would do the job. *Avast designed the reactor to use optimal air flow to ozone ratios which prevents the need for an air separation chamber/carbon.* This keeps cost down and installation/maintenance simple.*A flow meter is included to measure the correct amount air flow/ozone delivered.* This will allow users to dial in optimal mix ratio.* A pressure gauge is not included since Avast designed the reactor to have a fixed internal pressure.

Avast Marine has been working on the reactor for over two years as can be seen by the huge amount of attention to detail. Avast Marine has put a lot of that time into research and calculations to determine correct reactor sizing, injection rates/ratios, dwell time and tank ratings. Since not a whole lot of information has been published on the subject Avast Marine decided to release their own research data. They do*release*that the date will be used by competition but feel that: “if [the competition] chooses to use this data it will help bring some coherency and consistancy to the manufacturing/marketing of ozone reactors so it be good for the community as a whole.”*Which we can certainly*appreciate.

We should get in the final specs and pricing in next 2 weeks and we’ll be sure to post them. Until then, some more pictures below:
