    Hi guys,

New to the forum(well be reading fir the past 2 weeks)

Was a tropical fish guy for many years, last rank in 2008 with 2 huge HI FINs

My brother had 2 tropical tanks, small fish but took them very serious. About 2 months back he wanted my old tab and in return gave me a jebo R388, seems like a 80-90 liter.

Fast forward 2 months and a lot of swearing from the SO cause the empty tank was just "laying" there.. on Saturday I decided to go to the LFS.

I was utterly disappointed with the tropical fish the had, and when I returned home my mind was made up that I will be moving over to marine... but how?

I didn't have the right equipment, the tank was small, the hardware was crazy exp.
I then watch about 40 you tube videos that night and by the morning I was convinced I could do it... with help

Sunday I cleaned tank, removed all the gravel and stones... called a FM in fourways and purchased 7kgs of live rock and sand(dead)on a shut down tank.

Get to the lfs and get 50 liters of water.
Put in the sand... then threw in 26ltrs.
Big mistake, I think I should have washed that sand before hand.... I then threw in the other 25liters... I then put in the rocks and threw in a out 15liters more.
The water was milky as hell.

So I decided just to run the pump and heater.. no filter yet... as stuff wasn't lining up for the overhead filter.

Water got better on Monday and Tuesday, Tuesday I went back to the LFS and got some piping, carbon, filter floss/wool and made a 3 chamber filter up top

    Chamber
1- floss up top and ceramic below.
2 - carbon and ceramic below and ceramic on top
    3 - floss and return.

I also rearranged the rocks to a proper setting...
Which made the water milky again.

Woke up the morning and bam!

    Job today-
    More sand
    More water

Btw the std lights stopped working on Sunday... going to DIY a led cluster for the tank, so no or little light for now.

Nice start, that milkiness is normal, had the same happen a few times when moving tanks.

Good start! Is that glass on the stand strong enough as a base of support?

That's a 37litre tank and its OK for marine but more for the experienced reefers as it needs a few extras to run smooth but nothing you can't learn from this site

    Update.. day 4...

This morning I woke up and the first thing I do.. check the tank.. and something strange by a small rock in the front...

I know I bout the rocks with about 6-7 mushrooms on it.. but i knew they wont survive as everything is off...

But looks.. a beautiful mushroom opened in the front...

Haven't tested the water just been dosing with special blend.

    And I topped up the water...added a wave maker... 20180627_081903.jpeg 20180627_205007.jpeg
