Hey guys. My one 250W globe went 2 days ago and I need to replace it. The following is a pic of what colour these globes made my tank.

They are the 20K Dymax globes. I like the crisp white colour that they give off and the coral colour reproduction is also very nice. But I am not sure how good they are in terms of growth.

How would the BLV 20K compare this colour wise. I know Adee runs them and he gets very good growth as well. Does anyone have a pic of a tank with the Aquamedic 16K globe? Also, if I go the 20K BLV route and it is too blue, how many T5 54W globes would it take to break that down to a crisper colour? I know clear cut answers is not easy so I am looking for rounded answers.

You could also consider 14K reeftec globes. They work very well here at our shop with a balance between coral growth and blue actinic colors!;)

If I compare it to Manics tank with his 20K BLV then it will be fine. SE or DE does not make a difference in colour does it?

Hi chaps, elaborate on the "BLV" What does this stand for? I have 2 X 150 w 10 000k lamps and want to go towards 20 000k but not sure exactly what. So this thread discussion is of help to me too.

20K BLV are great...just be sure though to supplement with T5's (that part I did not do), in order to tweak colorations. As burning one spectrum not the best for coloration.

What would you supplement with Adee? I currently have actinics with them.

it does when it comes to blv, the 150w 14000k looks nothing like the 250w 14000k

Actinics should be fine....but, you would have to trial and error this one. The ideal spectrum range will differ for different coral types found at various depths. I've seen first hand what some of my frags look like in other peeps tanks....differnent colors under their lighting.
