Welcome to MASA Spentacle, hope you enjoy your stay!

How long has the tank been running?
    T9 lights? Sure it's not T5 or T8?
The flow is a bit too little in the tank. Can you post pictures for us?

Do you have live rock in at the moment?
How do you top up evaporated water and what water do you use?

Don't think you need to add the old powerheads back as you don't have any corals at the moment. You'll need more flow when you add corals.

Your lights will need to be upgraded to keep most corals. Go for 4 x white T5 and 2 x actinic/blue - should be ok for most corals seeing that your tank's water level is less than 450 deep.

Sorry for all the questions :p

hello spec:) thanks for joining us, that tank you have running sounds great, perhaos a few upgrades needed here and there but you off to a good start by the sound of it:)

t8 are a little dim for corrals but you'll be able to replace those easily enough.

tobes has enough question for you to answer for now, so we'll wait for those answers first, but welcome to MASA you'll find this a great place to learn and have honest peer review to your tanks best advantage. Hope to see lots of you in here:)

The corals are going into my 2m tank.when ts up and running but gonna go the metal halide root with that tank probably two 250 watt 20000cal metal halides and then two or three blue lights.
I live on a farm so i top the tank up with rain water.i have about three KGs of live rock in my 1.2 metre tank but that tank is purely for locally caught fish.
any suggestions on what else i need for this tank i been having a bit of bad luck with juvenile fish that i caught recently. i had some hardy butterfly's and surgeons that i caught but they died the only thing that survived was the marleyi which is strange the generaly dont do well in tanks.I was feeding them frozen urchin as i do with all new fish then move them slowly onto brine shrimp and bloodworm frozen mix and ten finally flake or pellets. This however didnt work this time after about a month the fish all died in the space of about three days. I checked the nitrite and nitrate and it was very low so little confused as to why they died

With 20000k lights won't need blue, rather use 10000k or 14000k. Nitrite should be 0.

    What are water parameters ?

Have you ever tested the rainwater ?

How is the rainwater collected ?

Other than the canister filter, how are you getting nutrients out of the tank ?

Do you have live rock ?

i have a skimmer as well forgot to mention that otherwise i havent tested the rain water but it comes out the rain tank next to the house from the gutters they are cleaned regularly and are filtered.i have a about three Kg's of live rock currently.
the tank water itself i have only tested nitrate and nitrites so far but what i have started doing with newly caught fish is i have setup a basic 2ft tank with just a small aquaclear and a single light and i chuck them in there for a week or two and then move them into the big tank from there i have been doin that for the last month and its seems to be working so far
