    Hi there

I'm new to the forum and reefing. I enjoy reading through all the threads on this forum.

For now I have 25l of saltwater with two mollies and some live rock and a snail and a few crabs and a featherduster.

My goal for now over the next few months is to get a grasp on the chemistry and 'how to' of marine tanks before I tackle my 'real' tank which is going to be 250l which I hope to fill with something more exciting. So anyone with plenty of advice on starting out new is welcome to comment.

    Regards

    Welcome to the forum.

First bit of advice I can give you, Mollies are not saltwater fish. ;) You need to give them back to the pet shop, but please tell them they have been in saltwater so that the pet shop can acclimatise them properly back to freshwater.

Have a look through our articles section, there is some good information there - Beginners

:1: welcome, remember "we keep and maintain water, the corals and fish are just a plus". good idea to read learn. better than just jumping in tanking on all sorts and becoming overwhelmed and wanting to run away

    Thanks

Yes the petshop said that I would want to remove the mollies later on and them being freshwater. They are only in there while the cycle completes. They seem very happy though.

I am wanting to start on my bigger tank soon. For now I need a custom tank made. Any suggestions on good tankbuilders?

:welcome7: Im still new to marine and i would not have this far is it was not for the forums. but the best advice I can give is do shop around as some places tend to be very expensive, but sofar for me the Eastrand has the best prices, when you want coral the forums is the best place, O that is if the others don't get it first.

    Good luck in your adventure.

    Thanks much appreciated.

    What happened:

When this all started in July I added nutrafin cycle - on day 1- 13ml, on day 2- 5ml and day 3- 5ml. Then about a week later I added some live rock, one had a featherduster.
I added the fish and live critters two weeks ago when the brown algae disappeared and green algae already started. By then the tank was already cycling for a month with only liverock.

There is also this flower(polyp i think) that eats by contracting inward.

I also found these which seems are neritidae eggs or something. There is some on the glass too.

There is also a 30mm long pink bristleworm somewhere.

I have also seen very small featherdusters i mean really small types of antennae in the current that rectracts.

So the obvious thing is to start another tank and so on.

What type or size of protein skimmer will I need for a total water volume of 300l?
