[/COLOR] Hi guys loving my new hobby and since I'm very new to my aquatic hobby any advice will be kindly appreciated. I have a 180L Juwel aquarium with 15kg live rock, ± 4cm deep arrorgonite sand, 1 Regal tang, 1 Yellowtail Damsel, 1 chromis, 1 Percular clown, 1 Banana Wrasse, 1 blenny, 1 Jawfish, 1 Coral banded shrimp, 1 pink bubble tip anemone, 1 finger leather and star polyps. Tested water recently at my LFS and all seems to be okay so far. Planning on adding a hang on protein skimmer in a month or so and 2 more T5 lights (currently running 2 T5 lights only). Can someone advice me on what make and type of skimmer I should purchase. Good reef keeping to all.

There are Loads of good skimmers you can get for good prices on the for sale thread. Probably looking to add a HOB skimmer by the looks of things. A Reef Octopus bh1000 would be perfect choice

Hi Etesh and welcome! You are at a great place to learn.

The skimmer needs to be a priority for you, I would actually say that you can't really wait a month or so before getting one.

Also, the type of livestock you have currently, especially the anemone requires good water conditions and the skimmer is essential for this.

Give us more detail like when you started up the system, how often and how much water change do you do? How high up is the anemone in the tank, as 2 T5's will not be enough to support it. Is it currently moving around in the tank?

Depending on the height in the tank, those 2 tubes will not be enough to maintain the anemone. Need to upgrade this as soon as possible.

as for skimmer... im currently using the ReefOctopus hob 1000, feisty little skimmers,in the hob types i thing this 1 takes the cake, but for your size tank and stock i would recommend the 2000 series

    btw,how old is ur tank?

Good advice given so far, note on the lights for your Anemone and the skimmer. When you see replies like this
don't be afraid as it is for the better for your live stock and the more accurate you reply, the better advice you will receive...
