Good day all, MY name is Pierre an I am new to this hobby.
My tank is running for ten weeks.
I have one question if someone can reply it would be highly appreciated.
My sand and stones are a brownish colour, and would like to know why and know how to get rid of this.
My water is tested and all is good.

Hey Pierre welcome to MASA, your substrate probably has some diatoms, angle your water flow to them and increase oxygenation of water, normally helps, your tank is still new and will go through many algae phases.

HI Pierre, Please could you post some pics, so we can see the Rock in question, also you said youtested the water, please display the perimeters in the water, this will also give us clues to what’s happening in your system.

Hi pierre welcome to the wonderful world of marines and to masa :)

great to hear you have started your tank off already:) how about some more info on the system. how big is it, what skimmer or equipment do you have, what are the lights like? How much LR do you have in there and what are your plans for the tank....anything specific you would like to achieve.

a 10 week old tank is still very new and will take some running in while the bacterial populations rise and fall and while the tank starts to manage the processes of breaking Nitrogen through its cycles, so for now there is nothing to worry about. I agree with Tridan that its probably just diatoms starting to grow and personally id just leave it all be. Let the tank settle, cycle and slowly catch up onitself.

do you have a RO unit by any chance or are you mixuing salt with water from the tap?

Almost a 100% chance that you are seeing diatoms, which will disappear as your tank matures. It looks terrible after initially having a brand new tank look, but is noting to worry about (at this stage).

Can you include pictures of your system?
