:welcometomasa2: Wrassa - Glad to hear you want to leave "bathwater" and come over to marines..... you've come to right place ... firstly when you say hex tank what are the actual dimensions ... height, length, width of each side and ideally marines work well with separate sumps so that you can hide equipment like heaters and skimmers like that in the sump so a thing for you to consider is how to get the water out of the hex tank to the sump and back to the hex .... Also we use sumps to house the dsb (deep sand bed) where beneficial "goggas" live to help out with filteration of the tanks. Also what are your goals for this tank? Fish only? Corals? Mixed Reef? Also will help to let the guys here know what "other" equipment ou already have like lights, internal pumps etc. but be a little specific so that we can see if its suitable for marines or not... enough said enjoy your stay here with us and your new venture into the magical world of marines......

Welcome to MASA Wrassa, hope you like it here with us. You can start by reading through the links in my signature - some great info on how to start a marine tank.

The guys here has years of experience in this hobby, and we gain nothing financially from giving advice, unlike some petshops - so be careful and double check on Masa as some petshops will give the wrong/outdated advice just to make a few bucks out of a new guy. Check our sponsors out - some great shops :)

Read and ask as much as you can and most of all - be patient in this hobby and enjoy it ;)

    Welcome.

A hex cube that size is "small". As in lengthwise. I reckon with a water height of 40, then the tank dimensions are somewhere like 70 to 75cm by the same. So if you put in a sump, then the sump will be quite a challenge to work out. Have to look at Nano tanks and the way their sumps work. Will be an interesting tank and can work.
