    Hello Everybody

My husband, Tom, and I have just purchased a marine tank, arriving on Thursday, and are very excited about this new venture.

We have both always wanted one but obviously have a lot to learn.

We are looking forward to the challenges - and to interacting with all of you.

    Have a wonderful day

    Tom and Asti

    hello asti and Tom,
welcome to MASA, its a great place to read and lern, share and interact with other reefers.

Brilliant to hear that your tank is comming soon :) what size is it and what gomes with it? give us some details and we can see if their is any advice we can help with.

Marines are a brilliant hobby, time consuming and expensive but the best return on investment you can ever make. simply facinating and rewarding when you get it right :) Its a steep learning curve and most reefers get dazzeled and confused in the beginning as you will have so much info its hard to process it all. Just take your time and listen to what we are telling you here, we have all been through the same steps and we will do all we can to highlight the difficulties and mistakes that you are likley to encounter:)

welcome to masa and happy postings:)

A VERY WARM WELCOME to MASA, Asti and Tom! Great to have you on-board! Looks like the number of marine reefkeepers in the Table View area is growing! ;)

Please tell us what size tank you have ordered, and whether the pet shop/local fish shop (LFS) has advised you on filtration, lighting, water flow, etc?

Also - what are you planning to keep?

Please have a read through the URL link in my signature, which would give you a lot of information on "Starting a marine tank"....

Please feel free to ask as many questions as possible, to ensure that you both can gain the knowledge that you would require to be successful marine reefkeepers.

Also - PLEASE take note that keeping marines is 99% about having a LOT OF PATIENCE!
Without patience, your journey would most likely fail, and you would most likely have a lot of losses (in lifestock life)....

Good luck, and we are here for you.

Welcome to MASA Asti and Tom, glad you joined and hope you'll enjoy your stay with us.
Like mentioned before, please fill us in on the equipment, size, plans on what you guys want to keep, etc.
Please do your homework thouroughly and don't be shy to ask us anything - we are here to help you ;)
Be patient and let the tank run it's cycle for 6 - 8 weeks before putting the first fish in - do this and you'll enjoy this wonderful hobby - rush it and you'll lose money and interest :(
Keep us updated you hear :wave2:

Welcome to MASA, this will be the ride of a lifetime, I am new to the hobby as well. And I will also be getting my tank soon. The guys and gals on the forum are very keen on helping, and really, don't be scared to ask questions. These people saved me a lot of trouble, and money for that matter. I almost bought something completely useless.

    Thank You

Thank you to everybody who so warmly welcomed us to MASA, we are looking forward to the ride and challenges ahead.

We purchased our tank from a family, also in Table View, who are just unable to spend the necessary time on the tank as they are in the hospitality business.

The tank si 1.2m x 500 x 500, already has rocks, coral, anemones, rock worms. A prawn, 1 Damsel, 3 x Clowns and 1 other, the name of which escapes me.

Craig, from whom we bought the tank, has very kindly offered to assist us moving and setting up the tank in our home. He has done this all before and seems to know what he is doing and talking about.

This will now all happen on Friday afternoon so we are in for an interesting weekend !

Take good care and happy 'fishing'.

    Regards
    Tom and Asti
