    Hi Folks,

I’m very new to Marine Fish & even newer to this forum – great site BTW.

I currently have an 80L Cube (started in April 2010) & yes the bug has bitten, which means an upgrade – my new 5 foot arrives this coming week.

Anyway thought I would post some pics of my current setup, until the one arrives.

    • Custom built Cube (10mm glass)
    • 450mm (w) x 420mm (d) x 420mm (h)

    • Sump – 400mm (w) x 300mm (d) x 400mm (h)
    • Chambers – Skimmer, LR, Heater / Filter Matt, Ceramic Rings / Heater, Bubble Trap / Return Pump, Chem Pure Elit

    • Skimmer – Dymax XP30 (200L)
    • Return Pump – Eheim Compact (2,000lph)
    • Heaters – ViaAqua (1 x 150w & 1 x 100w)
    • Powerhead – Seio prop 320 (1,200lph)
    • Lighting – Dymax MH (150w with 20,000k bulb), also LED Moonlights
    • Cooling – 90mm PC Fan

    • 10% water change weekly

That’s about it – here are some pics – any feedback welcome?

    Cheers
    Michael B

Hi there, welcome to MASA. Nice nano you got there. I would just be careful of the ceramic rings long term as they can cause water quality problems. You see, they convert ammonia to nitrites to nitrates very efficiently, but then it stops.
So over time your nitrates will just go up and up and be harmful to your corals and invertebrates (shrimps, starfish). They work in a petshop, as they have a quick turnover and ammonia and nitrites is toxic to fish, so in a fish only system it's cool, but not for corals and inverts.
The petshop might tell you different, just to sell them :p
I would remove the middle higher glass partition to make the area bigger and put chaetomorpha algae in there with a 5000-6500 kelvin light. Macro algae consumes nitrates and is a good means of nutrient export. When it gets too big, just half it and give to another reefer.
Just remove the ceramic rings over time, maybe a handfull or two every week to not deprive the system of the needed bacteria too quickly ;)

That's if you want to :p

Holy cow your tank is awesome.

There has been some good advice given but by the look of it you are doing a really good job so far so if you keep up with the waterchanges and clean the filterfloss regularly your tank should only get better.

Oh and by the way welcome.
