Hi there, packed marines up a couple of years back, missed my tank and decided to get going again. This time I'm quite keen to try a nano reef setup, I found my previous 2m tank to be a bit too much time and work for me to handle.

Anyway, now the search starts for a decent nano reef setup, been to look at a couple of "plug and plays", but not quite sure which is the better unit or setup, Boyu TL550 LED, Aquaria Magic Wave 102 or Red Sea. Any and all advice re quality, spares and backup service would be welcome. TIA.

Welcome to Masa. Personality I would go for a 2m tank however when referring to a nano I would go for a Red Sea. You would not have to modify any component of this tank vs the Boyu. As far as I my knowledge goes there are not many people in CPT running Aquaria nano tanks.

Ok, I'm in TB Ave.........anytime you want to brag and show off your tank I'd be keen to see it.

I'm not in a hurry to set up a tank, last time I got reamed by the LFS I dealt with. My fault really....I was in a hurry and the LFS saw me coming....got me good and solid, but never again!

I might even go for a GOOD 2nd hand setup, I'm sure there are some nice setups available out there.

Innovative Marine has some really good start-up nano kits and so forth. Really good looking tanks and surpisingly well-priced for what you get.

Hey Sean, many thanks for your time on Saturday morning, very nice setup you got there. Took your advice and bought the Aquaria 102 unit, will pick it up during the course of the week. Need to start looking out for an RO unit and some nice LR now.

    Ok, update time.

Went to go and pick my new Aquaria Magic Wave 102 nano tank today, came home without a tank....bummer!!

The LFS had offered me a very good deal on the last unit they had in stock as they were not going to be carrying that model anymore. Got to the shop, opened the box and discovered that the tank was a used tank and not a new one. The deal was no longer so good as there is no way that I would pay what was asked for a second hand tank. I must point out, and please take note, that the LFS staff member who arranged the deal for me was not aware that the unit in the box was used and not new. I fully believe that this was a genuine mistake on his part as I also saw the box and would not have thought that this was a second hand unit by looking at the box.

Anyway, the search continues and I'm still looking for a decent nano setup. Quite like the look of the Innovative Marines units, but can't seem to find the link as to suppliers and pricing??
