What is the procedure of introducing new rock (cured) into a system.

I've read about "cooking", same as what viper did on the hair algae thread ?

Always an excellent idea to put in live rock from different origins, it boosts the diversity of bacteria and critters in your tank.

    LR in SA?

To the best of my limited exposure to various liverock imports.

    Besides "Fiji, Kenya, Indonesia"

Add imports from Tonga, Haiti, Atlantic/Caribbean sources. occasionally Solomon Islands, and Malaysia.

Indonesia ALONE accounts for > 4 DIFFERENT island sources I have seen.

I've heard some Zanzibari, and Tanzanian LR may be available before midyear, after small trials in 2007.

This just answers " WHERE does LR, PRESENTLY available in SA, originate from?"

It does NOT include, of course, a significant amount of locally collected or poached Liverock. This may be either illegally bought or, personally collected.
