Urgent help needed New life... desirable?

    Help... I have some livestock arrive in my tank, but i didn't put it there!!!

    I woke up this morning to find some strange little white Gogga cruising around my tank!!
    He is way too small and way too fast to photograph, and equally not easy to see, so here goes the description to the best of my ability...

    he is about 7mm long. Cylyndrical in shape.. 3-4mm in diameter. I can make out a dark eye, and flagella-like dorsal growths and WOW is he fast...

    Must have been a egg in the sand i collected from the beach!!

    Any ideas?!

    lol...you want them in there. They are either copepods or amphipods. They are beneficial :)

    Commonly refered to as pods - they are muchos good! If this is not what you've seen try google for pictures to give us more guidance

    Maybe minus the funny claw thingy!!

    Seems definately is an Amphipod. Very strange indeed. Tank is running cold for about a week then all of a sudden HELLO... A GOGGA..

    Glad they are good.. Also starting to notice funny worm things in my sand..

    Darwin in a tank.. very cool.

    Time to get a heater and a small pump in the tank so that the life can survive, you need all these beneficial little creatures. :)

    You'll find that as you go along more and more live will "appear" out of nowhere. This is why the hobby is so cool and you'll spend hours just on this - Do yourself a favour and - when your tank is ready - get some good quality liverock - you'll be amazed at the live that it brings to the system.
