second step was to make a sump tank to the exact specs.
I had this in mind when doing the sump

Just a question. With taking out those upright pieces of wood or shelves arent you weakening the stand or is there a steal stand covered with cabinet? Your sump looks good. Are you going to run reactors or bio cubes/carbon/phos remover and placement for those

Se if you cannot add shelf brackets to the cabinet. To make it stronger and to prevent flexing.

    Update:
This week was very tough. I thought I cud start cycle.
But the piping was leaking on the return at the 1 of the elbows.
I took out the piping. Rejoined with pvc weld hlue now the damn thing
    is leaking at another elbow!
Lucky tank is still in my garage.
Any1 use pvc weld glue or use silicone on the pipes & elbows?

I use pvc weld on my previous build and my current. Its important to make sure you use enough for the pipe to seal and that its well ventilated to dry properly.

I think my main problem was the gloss grey paint, i have sandpapered the grey off that fits into elbows & couplings, then ran a ring of silicone away from edge , then sqirted loads of pvc weld on pipes & elbows.

    Thanks Butcherman,

Ive never kept marine before & Ive always dreamt of having a marine tank.
    Ive had lots of freshwater.

I want to have the neatest & best tank EVA & I want to have it displayed & want to strive to get it to build of the year!
appreciate any crit or any ways to improve or just any general discussion of your experiences as im new to the game.

Im doing most of the diy myself at night when the kidz are asleep so its going slow atm.
Im hoping to get the tank up & running this week.
