Last Spring we participated in a First Friday Art Walk in Denver’s fashionable art district and came across some truly stunning artwork by local artist Chris Beikmann. Beikman has an outfit called DaVinci Cases which operates a virtual store on Etsy and one of his designs in particular, a metallic overlay of star coral linework, is the coolest case we’ve ever seen for a smartphone.

We used our Star Coral case on an iPhone 4 for many months and we were particularly sad to upgrade to the iPhone 5 specifically because we’d have to ditch the star coral case that we’d become very fond of. This morning Chris let us know that a few new iPhone 5 cases were just uploaded to the DaVinci Case webshop and you can bet we got ours lickety split. DaVinci’s Star Coral cases are truly original and you can still get one for your iPhone 4 or Galaxy Nexus II.

There are several designs of the DaVinci Star Coral case to choose from. For the iPhone 5 there’s the metallic Star Coral Case for just $24.95 plus shipping and a wraparound case for the Five for $29.95. We placed our order well in advance of posting this story as this first batch of small-batch original iPhone 5 cases is sure to sell out fast. If you’ve got a legacy phone be sure to look around as there are a few other coral-ocean related designs for other popular smartphone models. Better yet, Chris has given us permission to share with you the special discount code “TURKEY20” which is good for 20% off your total order at the Etsy store. Get it while it’s hot!

I saw these in London a couple of weeks ago, looked very cool, but not cheap, just under R450 for the iPhone cases.

The iPad cover was nice, but not for sale yet as it's still in production or testing or something, forgot what the lady said exactly. :p

lol, very true. But the covers are very well made, not cheap chinese quality, the picture is kind of blended into the plastic, I don't know how to explain it :p, but if the cover gets scratched the picture does not get affected, plus it's got a very thin lip just above the screen on the front side so you can put the phone down on it's screen and the screen is relatively protected. I would have bought one but I just couldn't justify the price.
