So a new adventure starts with a new tank and the "it needs to be a bigger tank" from my wife.
This will not be quick but will be ordering glass soon as well as the steel for the frame.
Ill post some design pics but they were done in Excel as im not the greatest designer 3d.

the blue part is the wooden exterior, tongue and groove sprayed with a soft duck egg blue - to match the lounge.
the tank will only be visible from 2 sides - all the glass cut to size R1560 including sump.

    Check out Google Sketchup.
Go through the intro videos. Awesome tool to do designs with.

nice pics there Harry - the 500mm side panels will be shorter to fit inside the 600mm panels but all panels will be on the base making the tank effectively 508 high

This is a drawing of your tank all to size. Worked on a 200 step higt witch wotks out to 208 witch makes for a stronger base. Need to se if i can do a stress test on it to see what it will do with weight on it.

The drawings are done in inventer and you put in the weights and parameters amd it does all the work. Haven't tried it on tanks yet but wamt to see if it is poseble

Ok so im getting to grips with Sketchup, but can i add anything else like piping etc.
Here is the latest rendering - which is of the actual colour scheme of its surroundings.

    Yeah bud,
Draw a circle of the outer circumferance of the piping. then draw a smaller circle of the inside diameter of the pipe. delete the centre portion, and extrude the left over "Outer section" to the length you want.
With a little imagination and a measuring tape you will be able to make all of your plumbing accessories out there including gate valves etc..
Or, if that is alot of work, im sure there are sketchup packs (Plumbing/electrical/whatever) for sale..

You've also left of the top of your front pane of glass in that last pic, creating an infinity reef onto your floor lol
