to be very honest 300 deep is very shallow for a marine tank, if this can be increased at all you will see a big difference especially once you start putting LR in there.

There is nothing wrong with your sump design per se. Some okes design the buffers so that it skims the surface of the refugium. I would recommend you add a skimmer to this chamber, even if it is a small one, I don't think your tank is big enough to be considering a refugium, I would probably consider a DSB instead.

Hey guys, Thanks for all the reply's

As for the Height, i saw a display tank and it looked great . it was also only 30cm high.. but do you really think i should go for higher? and would the lighting be enough for more depth?

As for the skimmer. I was honestly not going to use a skimmer.
and if i was, i would put a Basic Boyu 310 on it.

But thats what you guys are here for :) Advice

ts1 skimmer.

Also, run the the return pipe back up through the overflow compartment (if there is space). It will just look neater with less plumbing around the tank.

You can make a shallow tank look very nice.
The width is more of a problem to me, but that is a matter of taste.

Here is an example of a nice shallow tank that inspired me to do a shallow tank.

I cant fit the Return pipe through overflow.
So its gotta be that way.

Im hoping everything will work out ok.

Well, while everyone is giving their expert advice, let me take the opportunity to

WELCOME TO MASA.... You didnt have this kind of help 10 years ago.....

Omg

Max98. Thanks..

See thats looks freaking great..
See the only reason i have it that width is because thats all the space i can give.

i already have 2x 2.5m tropical tanks.
2 x 1.2m Tropical
1x 3m Brackish.

in my room lol.
So i have a gap. and that would be a perfect fit.

So i just gotta make it work..
I could mnake it a bit higher, but then defeats the point of a shallow tank

haha

Thanks Maxisoft..

No i didnt have this help 10 years ago.
But glad to have it now.
Lookign forward to starting a mini reef :)

Hey Muz..

I was going to have a 10cm DPS, And just have the refugium in the same chamber.. seeing as its so large..

But can you give me advice on this guys..

Or should i just do a DSB and LR?

Well ive never had a DPS before. So can you Advise me on how it works..
That would be great..
And what about Algae Blooms? because of no Refugium

have a look at the volcano tank for some inspiration on a shallow tank, its a TOTM on MASA if i remember correctly..... you could use the volcano to hide the overflow and return !!
