    Hi Guys,

First of all I just want to say a big thank you to Stage Craft Solutions for providing me with the new Cree XML lights. They are so much more than I expected. The service from SCS was excellent! I have had some bad experiences in the past with purchasing online but they kept in contact with me throughout the ordering process until delivery.

I am not sure whether they are members on this site but I think that they should be so that you guys can get the same service as I did.

I will be posting the pic's of my new build when I am finished it and see what you guys think. I am a huge Cree fan boy and to know that there is somewhere local that can get these lights for me is a huge lifesaver.

They told me that they will be arranging package deals soon as well. That maybe cool for the guys that have the pico tanks and even the larger tanks too.

I would highly recommend them as they deserve a few :peroni:

It looks as if they mainly specialise in stage lighting and events etc but I had heard through a friend that they do marine aquarium lighting :)

Just thought you guys would like to see where I plan on going with my tank.

    Enjoy guys!

    Thanks

    Mistake

    Hi Quintin,

It looks as if it might be a mistake. I looked at that too. I think it must be 3A instead of W.

They look good, I am also quite impatient when it comes to hardware on the tank. Yes... it would have been cheaper to order from overseas but I couldnt wait. :)

I am so excited to get started now! :)

    Nope, 3W is correct.
Most high power LEDs are now available in 3W but you can also get them going up as high as 200W.
You will also need a driver for the LEDs as you cannot simply plug these in and go.....

Yeah, I got the driver from them too. They told me that if I order 15 + LED's then they would give me a discount on the driver. I haven't recieved the driver yet but should get it on Monday.

    Do you have these LED's?

    Nope.
I got myself the Bridgelux LEDs direct from the factory in China.
    USD12.00 for a lot of 10.

Also just remember that at a maximum of around 10 000K you will still need to supplement this lighting between the 10 000K - 20 000K range if you want to keep corals and avoid algae issuse. Inerestingly enough, you can find Cree LED's from China that operate at 20 000K yet Cree themselves say that they can't supply an LED with even half of this colour rating. So just be careful guys and do your homework if you need a higher colour rating or are looking to save some money by going Chinese.

I feel like a dumass now getting these. Too late now... I will have to use these do the build and then let you guys know whether it was actually worth the extra bucks or not.

I will keep you guys informed.

You've put yourself at the fore using these leds. Do be carefull, as they are extremely bright and I would not recommend you use an optic. They can be driven higher than the XP-Gs, which is why one can get more light from them.

You will need to balance them with Royal Blue and Blue, as they are not strong enough in this range.
