I've been planning to upgrade my camera for some time now, and have finally done the deed :whistling:

Pretty exited at the moment - have just made an EFT payment for this little jobby...

I hope to receive it before tomorrow afternoon, so that I can play with it over the weekend. The shop I bought it from (ORMS, in Cape Town) promised to send it by overnight courier as soon as they've received proof of payment, so hold thumbs for me.

    :slayer:

Congrats Hennie. Fantastic camera... You getting the L "kit" lens too?

(now you need to start saving to upgrade your pc to work with 21mp images...)

Thanks for the good wishes, Guys - I appreciate it.

Ja boet, I don't use that word often, but in this case I agree - AWESOME

Nope - will be using my existing Canon EF 28-135 IS USM while I save up for this one (Canon EF 50mm f1.2 L USM):

Although I suspect that my next purchase (soon...) will be the Canon 100mm macro lens...

Sean, the best deal I could find was at ORMS in Cape Town: Have a look for yourself. I have bought two previous cameras from them - they are really PRO, and have consistently been the cheapest in South Africa. Unfortunately their salesmen are a bit over worked (it's usually crazy in their shop...) and don't give one as much attention as one would like (and deserve, for that kind of money...), so do your browsing somewhere else (or online), and then just buy from them in the end - at least, that's what I do :whistling:

I've used the Canon EF 28-135 IS USM quite a bit. It's pretty good but still an "all rounder" lens at the end of the day. Ask crispin I love the canon 100mm macro :p

Yeah Orms are usually the cheapest. Sometimes you can wangle makro/game etc a bit cheaper but obviously only on the few things they actually stock whereas orms has everything. Also my best friends step dad working there makes me slightly partial :p (and no he doesn't organise very good discounts, Orms margins are really low so giving it at cost doesn't make much difference).

I generally check SACamera (school buddy of mine started it), Orms and the OutdoorPhoto shop. Orms is pretty much always the cheapest.
