    Good day Masa
Im in the process of building a 700mm or 800mm cube.
    1. I would like some help with the design of the tank .
    2. Advice on the sump
    3. Lightning - im not sure yet if i want to go with led or a single metal halide .
    4. I don't have enough for a chiller so im planning on fitting 4 cooling fans in the hood.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Im planning on having two tanks the marine on the left and tropical on the right and im going to build my tv unit in the centre of the two tanks .
Hope to hear from all you pros

Will the 2 marine tanks on the left share a common big sump?

I'll have the marine on the left and tropical on the right. I'll only have one marine tank.

    First marine tank? If so read some of this;

The sump should have a mechanical filtration section a biological filtration section and finally a chemical filtration section If you are using any bio cubes or pellets please make sure the skimmer can "skim" out the mulm before it gets in the tank, this will aid in cyano control.
If using vinegar/vodka, dose in tank.

Lighting: That is a huge debate. I personally prefer a combination of two, even three forms. Chose. Don't think you'll save money on any. LEDS have no globe changes, but a good LED will use lots of WATTS/litre. Take into account what your future plans for your tank are, SOFTIES, LPS, SPS, FISH ONLY?

Don't stress about chillers evaporative cooling is great, but be ready for using extra RO, rather spend your money on a ATO.
In the long term a constant temp is better than one that fluctuates in a 24 hour period.
I run my tank AROUND 28 in summer months. Rather spend extra money on a good skimmer.

STABILITY is the key with marines, this will take some time.

Keep your hands out of your tank.

    PATIENCE!

    Most of all, Have fun.

4 walls and a floor. :p 600 high is a nice height. Not too deep for lighting to reach. Research Euro bracing, it's a lot better than cross bracing.

Sump can be how you want it really, build it around the skimmer and other equipment you plan on having, also do a search on the forum for the word 'sump' in the thread title, there are quite a few threads displaying different sump idea's.

A single MH will not light up the entire tank, the edges of the tank will be a bit darker, a MH is generally considered capable of covering 600x600. If you do go MH you may need to supplement with a couple of T5's. It's not a huge deal, the tank will still be lit, but the edges will be noticeably dimmer.

    Perfect.

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe I'll just stick with T5's for now.
    Glass thicknes for a 700mm cube, i was thinking 8mm with a 12mm base ?
    Tank dimensions would be 700mm x 700mm x 650mm water level at 600?
