Hi, I am very new to all this and still pretty confused. I have taken over my son's 5 year old tank and a new algae is growing. It is very fine, hairlike, soft, long, wavy and very hard to remove off the rocks. Someone told me it might be an Turtle weed. If it is, am I supposed to keep that algae or should clean it out?

A picture says a thousand words....

What is your filtration setup. Algae growth is normal on systems with high phosphates.

Welcome to MASA. Great having you here! Like Riaan said pictures always help. Also fill us in on your tank details and filtration.
