    Hi

Is anyone in SA using this controller - I have seen great reviews and I'm thinking of importing one and running off step down converter to 110V?

    Cheers

yeah, Pity they are only 110V

Not sure how you will switch 220V appliances from it.

would you not have to then also step up every outlet you plug into it up to 220v?

There have been rumours of a 220v version, but i have not seen anything.

There is a 220v version (really just the power bar) in the UK, but hugely expensive - nearlly double the price.
My logic was that sourcing pumps/heaters/other equipment to run off 110v should not be difficult as most would be for US market in any case, and if not available then step up back to 220v on powerbar

to retroefit your tank with 110v equipment can work, but also costly, and what is the equipment breaks down. can you get spares for the imported products?

True-maybe I should then just get the controller without the energy bar (the controller can run off 12V) - then can monitor PH, temp and control lighting module from RAPID LED, and then later look at 240V energy bar?
This unit wil be used on on my RSM 130d so no real use for energy bar now apart from constructing certain fail safes on ATO & Temp.

I am using one. In Canada so the voltage is not a problem. I prefer it to the aquatronica I used to have, but it is not without its issues. The one I have now has been working well for over two years, controlling 15 or so plugs and pH / Temperature / level sensors. Software is nice too, and there is an iOS app for the controller.

That's what I thought - ok hope you don't mine me asking some questions as you have experience with this product. If I just get the controller without the energy bars, I can still control my LED fixtures, correct? And assuming I get the energy bars in the future I could use one controller to monitor and control two tanks?

Nope I cannot see how. The controller interfaces to the energy bars via USB and controls the switching that way. As for monitoring two tanks with one unit - that should be possible.
