Need some help

    Morning all

    Just need some help in lifting the PH in the tank without the use of kalkwasser.

    Ph is between 7.8 and 8
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - 50mg need to bring down
    Kh - 8

    Any sugestions will be greatly appreciated

    Hi Pete - You can increase your alkalinity, which in turn would increase you pH to at leat 8.2/8.3 by using "BAKING SODA" (Sodium Bicarbonate or WASHING SODA (sodium carbonate)) - This is basically the correct level for you. THEN only one can/should use kalkwasser to increase the pH more, IF you choose to do so. BUT - this should be left until you have gained a bit more experience with keeping marines... Because the margin for error then becomes VERY small......
