After last night accident I though I would start a list of Necessary Things we should keep handy in reef keeping.

    1. A wet and Dry vacuum cleaner and if it uses a ball for the wet vacuum make sure you know were it is.

I was running a pipe to bypass my over flow, and I think one of the dogs went to inspect my work and knocked it out of the sump, so the pipe ended up draining the DT. I only noticed it because my top up pump was going nuts as it hand no water and I thought it strange as I had just filled it.

Eish Shaun - really sorry to hear. And yes - a Wet/Dry vacuum cleaner helps, as does a "Wonder Mop" (I think that's what it is called? Not 100% sure)....

AND having TILES instead of carpet also helps wonders!

Yes jacquesb a wonder mop helps, but for small spills, around the 50l mark it is too slow.

Usually on wet and cry vac's you replace the bag with a holder and a ball, the ball floats on the water and then the container gets full the ball blocks the air intake to stop water flooding the motor.

Turkey basters are helpful for blasting gunk from rocks.
