    Morning Guys

Had a little shock this am when I went to my tank to feed and found my favorite fish dead!

He was fit fat and healthy. Last night when the lights turned off he was swimming around eating the algae off the sides of the tank. This am I found him dead wedged between a rock on the floor of the tank.

As you can see from the pictured is pectoral fins seem to be funny. and on the one side almost rotten to the extant f a hole under its fin.

I honestly spend hours every night watching my fish and tank and can assure you his fins were 100's. I recently added a green carpet anemone to the tank two days ago. I wonder if he didn't swim into it when the lights went off last night?

I cant think of anything else that could have caused his death.

Also his gill rakers were light pink and nothing out of the ordinary.

Do you guys have any idea what could have happened to him?

To be honest it was on the floor under a smallish rock. Almost like it frantically swam under it. I have highlighted the spot where I found him.

to be honest a lot of guys have had dismal success with blonde nasos the last year or two....I tried 3 and they never lasted more than few months..super healthy and just vrek overnight..my last one was unusual as it only ate nori for some reason..nothing else..i had an easier time getting regal angels to eat

I hope that it was exactly that. I want to replace him with an Angel Majestic. Just worried about the anemone. Don't know if that was what killed him.

That's a very good question. There is no damage on the fish to suggest it was pulled under its dorsal side was just under the rock. I cant see any claw or bite marks on the fish.

Hey bud sorry to here about your loss I don't think it was your carpet looking at the wound it was attacked or a rock fell on it, that's just my opinion

    Hi
    I'm nee to this world,but.
Was in a marine shop, and they spoke about a GORILLA CRAB that hides in the rock and only hunts at night.pulling it's prey into it hole.
As soon as they said about it I thought of your little guy.
Like I said I'm new to this.
So if anyone else can give more info it would be great.

Depends on the size of the crab. Are you losing fish? Maybe start a new thread under new general discussions or submit a new help topic detailing your problems.

No I am not losing fish, just this guy. I also look in my tank every night with a red light to see what is happening in the tank and I found a crab ages ago. Managed to catch it and sumped him. Other than the odd raisin sized crab in the rocks I have never seen any other crab. Also I feel it must be a bloody big crab to have taken down my Naso.
